2013 is the Silver Jubilee Year for Purandara. We wish to share our joy and moments of fulfillment with our friends in the printers’ fraternity in a unique way. On this happy occasion, we announce a few customer support service initiatives.

Employment Skill Development Program

  • Select school drop outs and give them theoretical as well as hands on training on printing and post press machines to make them employable as helpers and over the time to be elevated as semi skilled and skilled workers for work in offset printing presses.
  • It supports the cause of economically backward students to seek gainful employment in offset printing presses after successfully completing the training program.
  • It also supports printers in attracting a regular flow of youngsters to the industry to fill shortage of workers to some extent .
  • Eligibility criteria would be minimum 9th pass.
  • Printers interested in joining this program as training providers under the Apprentice Act would be registered with Purandara as training providers.
  • Training providers will be required to pay the stipend as per apprentices act or higher to be attractive for youth to come to the industry
  • Duration of the course will be six months.
  • During training period students will be required to work in a press to gain practical training for 5 days a week (Mondays to Friday) and Saturdays will be theoretical classes.
  • After six months an examination will be conducted.
  • Those who successfully complete the training would be helped to get gainful employment.
  • Trainees not fulfilling the age criterion will continue as apprentice till they are employable as regular employees.
  • Purandara will coordinate and conduct the theoretical classes and offer placement services.
  • Trainees would not be charged for any course fee but would be required to make their own arrangements for travel, accommodation, food and stationery.

Training Programs for Creation of a Talent Pool of Skilled Workers for Offset Printers

  • Select Plus II students of the  Govt Vocational Higher Secondary Schools with Printing Technology.
  • Targets would be students unable to go for higher education for economic reasons or not obtaining qualifying marks for diploma/degree courses.
  • Program would be three months duration.
  • Training providers will give financial assistance to the trainees to attract them to the industry.
  • Both theoretical classes as well as practical training are envisaged.
  • No course fees to the students.
  • Training Providers would be required to give accommodation for outstation students.
  • Evaluation at the end of the program and suitable trainees will be assisted in getting placements.
  • Preference will be given to those presses who give practical training.

Knowledge Enhancement Programs for Offset Printers

  • The main focus of the programs would be on Quality Improvement, Cost Effectiveness and Periodic Knowledge Up-gradation.
  • Program covering different topics would be scattered over a period of time for 4 – 6 weeks (one day a week)
  • The program is conceived as one to be conducted in the customer’s place where facilities are available as In-house Training Program or in a suitable place outside.
  • If the total number of participants is less than 15 we could consider conducting the program in our training center at Ernakulam. The training center is known as ‘Gnanasopanam’ and is fully air-conditioned, equipped with high tech facility like audio-video, LCD projection etc for conducting such programs.
  • The participants would be spending a day together and adding on their theoretical knowledge resulting in better efficiency and productivity.
  • The trainers/guest lecturers have to be paid honorarium for their services.
  • Purandara would, therefore, charge nominal fees for this program to meet these expenses.

Skill Up-gradation Programs

  • Intensive Short Course intended for semi and skilled workers of offset printing presses to increase technical knowledge resulting in better productivity and improved quality in printing.
  • Held at Purandara’s Training Center (Gnanasopanam) as per a fixed calendar throughout the year.
  • Nominal fees will be charged to the sponsors of the participants.

Induction Program

  • Induction Program for new recruits of printers to impart basic technical knowledge and make them employable as semi-skilled workers.
  • Duration – two weeks.
  • Sessions will include motivational topics to inculcate good worker traits.
  • No fees as program would be conducted by Purandara at its training facility.
Customized Programs/Projects
  • Customized Programs/Projects (Press calibration/ standardization) by UGRA certified experts tailored to the needs of printers.
  • Two days on site program
  • Chargeable
Training Program on color
  • Training Program on Color (basic, perception, model, theory, illusion, management and certification).
  • A one day training program meant for pre-press and press operators and supervisory level employees.
  • To be conducted by UGRA certified expert.
  • Fees to be charged by the trainer would be borne by the sponsors. Purandara would be acting as facilitators and provide the space and class room facilities.
The art of dot making
  • The art of dot making (original half tone printing, screen angle, screen ruling, resolution, AM/FM dots, moire/rosette, CtP calibration, processor setting, press setting)
  • One day program meant for pre-press and press operators
  • Half a day theoretical classes and half a day on site
  • Fees for trainer would be to the account of the sponsoring presses.
  • Purandara organizes this program as facilitators, coordinating and providing facilities in their training center.
Water calibration for offset printing
  • Half a day theoretical classes and half a day on site training
  • This training would also be on chargeable basis by the trainer
  • Coordination of the program would be done by Purandara.
  • Purandara’s training facility would be utilized for theory classes.
HR & Placement Services
  • Data bank of job seekers and prospective employers would be maintained by Purandara.
  • Free to job seekers
  • Chargeable to prospective employers
